I find myself in the crosshairs of a world event that has not yet come to fruition although I’m expecting it any minute. I know it’s coming because I’m experiencing the planetary aspects on a personal level already and every astrologer has been talking about if for years. So while it is surprising to me personally, it should not come as any surprise. But Im guessing it will. It’s a Mars Pluto opposition happening exactly tomorrow, January 3rd. It’s related to the great American solar eclipse from April 2024, an event I witnessed in Cleveland, Ohio. It began on the 27th degree of Capricorn (which carries the energy of pilgrimms climbing steep steps to a mountain shrine) in 2022 when Pluto returned to the place in the American chart where it was at the birth of this country (with pilgrimms demanding religious freedome and no taxation without representation). And a Uranus square in the America chart at 27 degrees Taurus (birth of Artificial Intelligence maybe) to 27 degrees Aquarius (love is real)- that’s a lot of 27 degrees. It means something. It’s the stuff of an American evolutionary transformation. And me with my Jack of Diamonds birth card (same as America), I always see these American transits showing up for me personally on a smaller scale.
When the warrior planet Mars opposes Pluto the planet of transformation – it brings the dynamic of war and transformation to fullness. Pluto represents uncomfortable truths, hidden truths, fears, big emotional triggers and power dynamics that require evolution and transformation. Pluto is in a fixed sign of Aquarius and Mars who always fights for what he wants is also in a fixed sign of Leo. These two energies will do whatever it takes to follow their will. It’s the energy of stand off. There is a desire to face something head on without backing down, by both. And Mars and Pluto are related, very similar planets – I’ve met my own Pluto person, me being Mars in this dynamic, ruler of my sun sign Aries. I see this energy playing out. Stand off is right. We’re similar but different. He challenges me while hiding behind his own fears and I’ve risen to the challenge and seen some things about myself that I might not have, if not forced . Rage, anger, heat and intensity are all part of the stand off. It’s uncomfortable.
It’s happened before, it’s happening January 3rd and it will happen again at the end of April 2025. It’s world changing, life changing, it can be the energy of war and destruction. What is coming up for us each at an individual level is a reflection of the cosmic shifts that will transform America. This is not easy and it calls on our compassion for the other. It requires us to operate from our heart space if we are to work through it and survive. It is the energy of re-birth, born again, second coming, evolution into the consciousness of love, new paradigms on earth will follow this transformation. And if my current experience of the dynamic is truly a reflection of the cosmic energy, I believe we will come away from this cosmic event with great resolve and either a stronger foundation or a complete coming apart that will allow new ways forward to emerge – possibly with new partners.
Mars is about putting our creative expressions into the world, how we show up to be seen even if no one is looking. The strength of Mars in Leo is when it’s centered in the heart. It’s not lost on me that Mars is currently retrograde meaning that is is in a weakened position. It cannot win this battle of wills through sheer blunt force as it has in the past, in the form of wars and revolutions. This time it must drop into the heart space. I must drop into my heart space. America must drop into it’s heart space. We will find our compassion at the next full moon in Cancer but for now we are in the time of the dark moon of introspection. And curious that the dark moon was also in Capricorn where Pluto kicked off this transformation back in 2022. It’s a time to observe. Take stock. Hold healthy boundaries and observe some more.
How will Pluto play? Will he get angry, blame others, create distractions? Or will he show up as the healed masculine who can do the right thing? Meet the moment, respect the boundaries, be a hero. Time will tell. Either way there will be no room for co-dependent people pleasing. This won’t soon be resolved. Nothing will be as it was. America will be changed as I will be and all other individuals feeling this aspect directly in their personal lives.
Emotional, intense, disruptive. We may have to separate or break up in order to survive this powerful aspect. Pluto in Aquarius stirs something up that has to be worked through and will be worked through one way or another until the end of April. Coming into the truth of who we each are, the essence of each one is needed. It’s an opportunity for the patriarchy and every divine masculine and feminine to enter into the Hero’s journey. For America to enter into the Hero’s journey to evolve a new sense of identity. Separating to find ourselves, in order to reach higher levels of unity consciousness. We separate sometimes to discover how deeply connected we are. It’s the aspect of shifts, endings, relationship break ups.
How this plays out on the American scene, I have no idea yet. I can say that money has been an interesting sidebar in my personal life and so I expect it to show up in some way in America’s transformation story as well. There will be no quick resolution here. Noting the breach of the treasury department this week, and also noting how we don’t collectively understand yet what that means for America.
This energy is deep, full of intense self discovery that will bring us each into the heart of who we are and what we need that we’ve been disconnected from. The more we can open to this work, the better it will feel and move. The transformation comes from not compromising who we are and what we want. It’s an experience of sovereignty that can show up as a disagreement or fight. We have to let people go their own way. We have to be free. When Mars opposes Pluto we cannot control another. Allowing separation can be a gift.
Whatever it triggers in each of us is for each of us to work through ourselves. Deep honoring of individual sovereignty is essential right now. New life directions emerge from this life changing, course re-directing energy. Break ups during this energy should be respected.
Receiving the opposition of Pluto in Aquarius, is challenging our intentions and unconscious collective programming. It’s showing us where we are in-authentic and where we have work to do. We’re gonna do this, our soul chose this lesson. We’re gonna rock it and master it and get through it. We’re going to emerge re-birthed. Re-created. Come again.
We each have an opportunity to collectively hold the space for this transformation of America in our own lives, as within, so without. It can be the path of least resistence, allowing and holding strong boundaries for ourselves or it can be all drama and tears. We each must choose how to hold the energy and be the change we wish to see in the world. We each will be forced to show up for ourselves and others. We cannot heal another but we can hold space for them to do their own work.
However this planetary aspect plays out – you can be assured that I’m going to sit with it. That I’m going to show up as my most healed self holding my healthy boundaries along with a strong dose of self compassion and unconditional love. It’s a put your own mask on first type of situation. It requires adulting in a big way. Not drama, not triangulating or distracting. Sovereign, authentic, vulnerable and real. Love is real. It may be the only thing.
We’re entering into the paradigm of love as a planet and I have to believe that America is transforming at this time because it’s a big part of how we get there. So if we know that – then the way seems pretty clear. Self love radiating out into a higher collective consciousness. Be the love you wish to see reflected in the world. Only fear blocks love. Don’t make decisions from a place of fear. Find the gratitude for the lesson and let the fear go so that there are no blocks. This is the way.
