David R Hawkins, MD, PhD, now deceased is one of my new heros. I’m reading a book that is not all that old in the grand scheme of things but very profound from my perspective. It provides a framework for understanding the impact of spiritual awakening on the human condition. It correlates states of consciousness with emotions and psychology. It lays out how the brain changes and how information is processed differently when spiritual faculties come online. It speaks of the incorporation of intuition into thought processing and decision making. It also outlines the very different perspectives that different levels of consciousness operate from and this is important. It’s important to realize that there is a broad range of consciousness levels all incarnate here at the same time and therefore many different perspectives from which different individuals are operating from. He even makes the point that the earth school is so good for spiritual evolution precisely because of these wide ranging perspectives. If we were all on the same level we wouldn’t have conflict to work through. We’d all be apathetic. Or dangerous. Or all be angry. Or all be struggling with anxiety or mental health issues. We’d all smoke. Or not smoke. (Smoking, by the way is correlated to a level of consciousness near anger). But instead we have different people and different locales of people at different points in the continuum of consciousness. It is palpable the difference in collective consciousness from Cleveland to Los Angeles to Maui for example. And also the notable diversity of consciousness in a place like Las Vegas. Las Vegas is surprisingly fun for both the smoking gambling crowd and for the higher vibe crowd. Some that want to revisit the lower vibe but also for the lower vibe crowd to partake in the mind altering substances available to allow brief experience of states of love and bliss. The high vibe crowd will be found in smoke free venues along the strip as they enjoy navigating the scene using their intuition and faith in the spiritual realm to synchronistically walk them through a labyrinth of mayhem, like an ultimate escape room challenge.
Hawkins indicates that people can come into their current incarnation at higher or lower levels depending on where they left off in a past life. I also have observed through my study of Steiner’s understanding of child development how children move through different levels of consciousness from infancy through adolescence before landing somewhere on the continuum as an adult. I vividly remember my young daughters finding the word hate in their vocabulary and wielding it like a well trained warrior does with a sword. Hate is an emotion correlated with a level of consciousness right around 50 on the scale. Most adults hover in the 175 to 207 range moving through states of apathy, fear, desire, anger, pride and maybe into courage. Courage is a threshold I believe that could correlate with the work of Joseph Campbell and The Hero’s Journey. Life becomes intrinsically easier the farther up the scale toward enlightenment. Enlightenment is in the 700 to 1000 range. Buddha and Christ status. Hawkins says less than half of one percent of the population will push through into level 500 – the level where a constant state of love or bliss is achieved and experienced. Many of us have experienced this state for inconsistent periods of time. Drugs can suppress the lower states of consciousness so that we can temporarily experience the higher states. Drug use and abuse itself though signifies a state of consciousness around 125, called the level of desire. It is above fear and below the state called pride.
Suicide is highly correlated with the lowest levels of shame and guilt at 20 and 20 respectively. These are states of consciousness perpetuated by some highly controlling organized religions and narcissistic mothers. From there consciousness crosses into apathy. The person in apathy is not suicidal because they lack the capacity to plan although they could die from lack of self care in this state. Frequently once the apathetic are given anti depressants Hawkins wisely notes, they rise into a state of grief where they regain their capacity to plan and for this reason there is a correlation with suicide and anti depressants. Anxiety is experienced around level 100. Smoking denotes a level of consciousness below 175 that is highly correlated with fear at level 150. People who hate money or resent the wealthy are in a consciousness level around 175 and below 200. These levels are hard existences. The perspective from these levels is difficult and challenging. It’s consciousness not wealth that makes life easier. This is why we see celebrities and wealthy people who commit suicide. Or use drugs. Great sums of money and wealth can create great amounts of fear and paranoia which are lower consciousness levels. The most conscious examples in our society are those of Christ and Buddha and others like Ghandi or ascended masters who lived well, ate well, spent time with royal or respected persons, wore fine clothing often said to be made from linen and didn’t seem to suffer much in their living although how their needs were taken care of is not indicated as through hard work or a difficult life. Rather they received financial support seemingly effortlessly. This is how life is at higher levels of consciousness. Synchronicities guide. The way forward reveals itself. Intuition and discernment are readily available to help navigate the easy path.
As I read through the book I could see myself in the past and could remember where I was in my life as I crossed through many of the states described. I remember when I let go of fear for example. I remember when I crossed through desire and pride. And the profound shift when I crossed the major threshold into courage at a time I refer back to as a profound spiritual awakening in my life. Up until that awakening I had been a spiritual seeker. Upon awakening I experienced the world very differently. My perspective and way of relating and making decisions was notably different. Hawkins describes this. On my spiritual journey I have had other experiences of energy activation and heart chakra activations or healing as I’ve experienced them which I believe correlate to Hawkins description of the next big threshold into 500 although I haven’t been able to sustain it. I am however grateful to be able to achieve these states, even temporarily without the use of drugs. Meditation was a game changer for me to get from 200 to 400. And as I strive for 500 I feel something else being called into my life. Glimpsing a new way of being. A happier one. One without expectation. One where self love and compassion are a part of my daily life.
It is not lost on me as I read this book that many times in my life when I’ve experienced what I might describe from a spiritual perspective as a dark night of the soul, I’ve actually up-leveled spiritually and am experiencing a shed of the connections and relationships from a lower level of consciousness as a consequence of my spiritual awakening. My divorce even is likely a reflection of my movement through different levels of consciousness as a lifetime consummate spiritual seeker. When two individuals are in a lower level of consciousness together and they marry – that marriage is only sustainable to the degree that they ascend spiritually together or stay stuck in a level that is not so different from each other. And also that they can withstand and weather together the stress and hardships that are experienced at those lower levels.
When we get too far apart from our partner their ego which shows up as narcissism becomes too much to deal with and we may find ourselves divorcing. A spouse stuck in desire coupled with one in pride is a common scenario. This is where drug use, alcoholism or cheating show up as untenable for the partner who takes pride in external appearances and measures of success. But now imagine a spouse in desire or pride coupled with a spouse in the level of reason or on the brink of unconditional love. the pull of the higher vibration beyond 500 is stronger at some point than the lure of the lower vibration to pull one back. Sometimes we have to untether from those who are unable, dis-interested or unwilling to ascend with us in order to get to those highest levels where states of unconditional love, joy and ecstasy are offered up as a permanent way of being. Those higher states of consciousness, I imagine may be lonely in our physical reality since so few reach them naturally. There may be a reason the Christ and Buddha are not depicted as married.
Solving for the concern of loneliness on the physical plane of reality, dual activated entity or twin flame souls have incarnated perfectly for the challenge of enlightenment chasing. The awakened twin is catapulted into a quest to raise their consciousness by the triggers of meeting their divine self in an equal and opposite form. once the awakened twin has reached across the level 500 threshold permanently, it causes their twin incarnation to rise above a threshold to where they can no longer be in their old way of life that valued external appearances and success over unconditional love. In this way, for those on a mission to anchor in the love paradigm on earth – the reward of ascending though the levels of consciousness is a perfectly suited and matched divine partner once they’ve reached the consciousness level of unconditional love. And from there the levels rise into states of bliss and enlightenment. Not a bad end game for the seeker who has spent a lifetime doing the work to cross through the lower and then mid realms of courage, neutrality, willingness, acceptance and reason which loosely correlate to the phases and phenomenon experienced by twinflames with all of their various perspectives and perils along the journey.
